WhatsApp Privacy Policy has been implemented all over the world. But the policy in India, one of the world’s most popular instant messaging platforms, has not stopped the debate. Meanwhile, WhatsApp gave a stern reply on the privacy policy in the Delhi High Court on Friday. The company told the High Court on the same day that the privacy policy has been put on hold for the time being and users in India will not have any problem with it. WhatsApp made the same claim in the Delhi High Court on Friday in a case challenging the privacy policy of the CCI.
WhatsApp has been at the center of controversy over the controversial privacy policy since the beginning of this year. Repeatedly enforcing that privacy policy, this messaging company changes the day. The company later informed that the privacy policy is being implemented and those who do not abide by the policy will have their accounts maintained. However, WhatsApp had earlier said that users’ accounts would be deleted if they did not comply with the privacy policy. And that is why many people leave WhatsApp and gather in other instant messaging apps. After that, WhatsApp is forced to accept the pressure. However, for those who have not yet accepted this policy, WhatsApp keeps sending regular update messages.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has again strongly objected to WhatsApp’s policy. The then Union Minister of Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad, made it clear that even if it was implemented in other countries of the world, the privacy policy could not be introduced in India. The case was also filed in the Delhi High Court. WhatsApp gave all the answers to the Delhi High Court. And his hearing was on Friday. There WhatsApp clearly states that the privacy policy for users in India is on hold and for that the customers will not have to face any problem to use WhatsApp. Let’s take a look at the 8 points that WhatsApp has raised in the Delhi High Court today.
1) As long as the Data Protection Bill is not being introduced in India, the privacy policy will be kept on hold. Harish Salve, a lawyer representing WhatsApp, told the Delhi High Court.
2) ‘Let the Data Protection Bill be implemented in Parliament first. After that, according to the company’s policy, it would be better to get permission to do business in India, otherwise WhatsApp will be forced to withdraw from here, ‘Harish Salve told the Delhi High Court.
3) None of the accounts of those who did not comply with the privacy policy before or after May 15 were deleted. It will not be done even later.
4) Those who do not comply with the privacy policy, initially asked to turn off some functions of their WhatsApp account, but later it was lifted.
5) WhatsApp pointed out that other online platforms in India collect a lot of information from this instant messaging app.
6) In the interest of advertising, this updated policy is mainly for sharing personal information of customers on Facebook from WhatsApp Business profile.
7) According to the company’s FAQ, most of the WhatsApp users around the world have already accepted the privacy policy.
