When calling a mobile from a landline, dial ‘0’ (Zero) before the ten-digit mobile number. Telecom operators have introduced this system in accordance with the instructions of the Telecom Department from Friday. All the operators in India have also informed their customers about this.
Airtel has informed its customers, “As per the guidelines of the Department of Telecom, from January 15, 2021, when calling any mobile from your landline, it is mandatory to place a 0 before the specified mobile number.” Reliance Jio has also informed its customers. Mukesh Ambani’s telecom company told customers, “This change in dialling pattern is being introduced from January 15 as per the guidelines of the telecom department.”
In November last year, the Department of Telecom said that from January 15, 2021, when calling a mobile from a landline, a ‘0’ must be placed before the mobile number. According to the Ministry of Communications, this will ensure a sufficient number of numbers for future use. According to the ministry, about 25.39 crore series will be created as a result of this arrangement. However, there has been no change in the system of dialling phone numbers from landline to landline, mobile to landline and mobile to mobile calls.
