There was a time when Samsung would roll out its software updates months or even years after launching the phone. But competitors like Xiaomi, Realme and even Nokia are coming up with one software update after another very fast these days. And this time I saw that Samsung is also updating the software ahead of schedule for more than one smartphone. This South Korean smartphone-maker has rolled out the Android 11 based One UI 3.0 upgrade for the popular Samsung Galaxy A51 model.
This latest version of Android update has been launched for Russia only. This update was supposed to come in March this year. The Android 11 based One UI 3.0 upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy A51 model will be available at the same time as scheduled in other countries of the world including India. The firmware version of this special update is A515FXXU4DUB1 and it has also started to give Android security February patches on the device. Other smartphone makers around the world, including Samsung, also received an Android security patch from Google a month ago, giving them extra time to upgrade to Android 11 for a specific device.
With this Galaxy A51 model again Galaxy Note10 Lite, Galaxy M31 and Galaxy M21 – all these phones are getting One UI 3 update of Android 11. While the Galaxy A51 received this update a month ago, the rest of the phones are getting this special update two months ago. Two more phones are expected to get this special update for Android 11 in March. Those two phones are Galaxy A70, Galaxy M30s. According to sources, these two Galaxy models will also get the One UI 3 update at the end of February.
In December last year and January this year, a bunch of Samsung smartphones were supposed to get the One UI 3 update for Android 11. That list includes Galaxy S10, S20, Note 10, Note 20 series, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Fold 2. Although all of these models have passed the initial stage of beta testing, it is expected that Samsung will give the latest Android update to this set of phones at the end of February.
