      Nokia smartphones will be made by Indian companies

      Nokia phone maker HMD Global has teamed up with Dixon’s wholly owned subsidiary – Padget Electronics to produce Nokia branded phones in India. According to PTI sources, the Dixon-owned company has entered into an agreement with HMD India to manufacture Nokia smartphones.

      “Dixon’s wholly-owned subsidiary Padget Electronics has entered into an agreement with HMD India to manufacture Nokia smartphones,” the company said in a regulatory filing. The smartphones will be manufactured at Padget in Noida, Uttar Pradesh”.

      Atul B Lal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Dixon, said, “We have partnered with HMD Global as the maker of Nokia smartphones in India. Nokia is an iconic brand that people around the world rely on for advanced technology”.

      “We are confident that, combined with our expertise in manufacturing, their foresight and rigorous industry-leading processes, we will be able to bring a range of Nokia smartphones to our customers,” he added.

      Incidentally, in December last year, Dixon Technologies announced that Padget Electronics Pvt Ltd had entered into an agreement with Motorola Mobility LLC to manufacture smartphones.
