Good news! Reliance Jio 5G smartphones and JioBook laptops are coming in August

Reliance Jio has started scrambling for the launch of their first JioBook laptop. This time the launch date of many replicated laptops was also known. A recent report in the Economic Times announced the launch date for the JioBook laptop and Jio’s first 5G smartphone. A few days ago, a report from XDA Developers also created an idea about the specifications and features of JioBook laptops.

The Reliance Jio is working on a 5G smartphone that could launch with the JioBook laptop, the Economic Times reports. More specifically, Jio’s 5G handset could launch in the third quarter of 2021. It is also learned that R&D work on this 5G device will be completed in May-June this year and the phone will be launched after that. Tech giant Google is helping Jio to develop this Android device. According to sources, the device may be launched at Reliance Jio’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Jio’s AGM is held every year in August or September.

A closer look reveals that Reliance Jio had launched its own AGM product in other years before. Mukesh Ambani’s company’s feature phone JioPhone and their broadband service Geo Fiber were also launched at the time of AGM. That’s why experts say 5G handsets and JioBook laptops could be launched at this year’s Geo Annual Conference.

Meanwhile, an official of Reliance Jio gave an idea about the features and specifications of the company’s 5G handset. However, the operating system of the phone is still being discussed. This is because the new device requires deep integration to provide all of Jio’s services. However, the Jio official said that the phone will be powered by the company’s own JioOS, which will be powered by Google’s Android operating system and may have a custom version. It is also reported that optimized performance of Jio applications may be offered with JioOS. But so far neither Reliance Jio nor Google has made a decision on the Android version of the Jio 5G smartphone. Rumour has it that this Jio 5G handset may be offered with Android Go operating system with entry-level specifications.

On the other hand, Reliance Jio’s first laptop, JioBook, may also be launched at the company’s annual conference. According to various reports, this laptop will be launched at a lower price mainly for students. Earlier in 2018, a report in the Economic Times claimed that Jio could launch laptops with Qualcomm chipsets. This laptop will be powered by JioOS operating system instead of Windows 10. This entry level laptop will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor for performance. JioBook will also launch a high-end model with a 2GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage variant of the laptop and another 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

According to sources, Reliance Jio is working with Chinese engineering firm Blue bank Communications for the technical features of this JioBook laptop. This company actually develops software for the devices of various other companies as a third party.
