BSNL launched 4G in the city of West Bengal

BSNL Kolkata launches Four-G service. However, due to non-availability of 4G spectrum, it has been introduced in some areas of three districts adjacent to Kolkata.

BSNL Kolkata has launched 4G service commercially in Dhulasimla, Uluberia, Kulgachhia, Ankurhati, Domjur, Singur of Hughli, Dunkuni and Bajwaj, Shirakol and Zulpia areas of South 24 Parganas. For this, the state-owned telecom company has upgraded 108 mobile sites in those areas from 3G to 4G.

In all those areas, BSNL customers will get only 2G and 4G services. To ensure that customers get 4G service, the company has given free 4G SIMs to all their customers in those areas. However, customers of other areas of BSNL will not get this service if they do not have 4G SIM in those specific areas. They will only get 2G service.

According to company sources, the state-of-the-art service has been launched in those areas, replacing all the equipment previously purchased for the Four-G service. Just as BSNL has not yet received 4G spectrum from the central government, the telecom company has also faced major problems in procuring equipment to build the 4G infrastructure in the wake of the ban imposed by the Center on Chinese companies after clashes on the Ladakh border.

BSNL has already launched Four-G service in some areas of Kerala and Odisha circles and Gangtok in West Bengal circle. Apart from this, BSNL has also launched Four-G service in a few other telecom circles on an area basis.
