Airtel’s successful demonstration of 5G as the first network in the country

Bharti Airtel made a big announcement on Thursday. Airtel was the first telecom company in the country to successfully demonstrate and streamline 5G services on a commercial network in Hyderabad. This telco successfully demonstrated 5G service as the first telecom company in the country to top Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio. According to Airtel, the company’s own existing liberalized spectrum has been demonstrated in the 1800 MHz band with the help of NSA (Non Stand Alone) network technology.

Airtel says, “This is the first time that dynamic spectrum has been shared to operate 5G and 4G simultaneously on the same spectrum block.” Pati in Bengali, which means: to show 5G technique on 4G network, which is exactly what Airtel did. This kind of demonstration actually showed the 5G activity of Airtel’s network in all domains such as radio, core and transport.

The company claims that this 5G service is capable of delivering 10 times more speed, 10 times more latency and 100 percent concurrency than the current technology. For example, in Hyderabad, users can download a full-length movie in just a few seconds with the help of a 5G smartphone. This is the special feature of 5G service. Airtel added, “Our customers will be able to experience the full 5G network only when more and more spectrum is available and the government will allow them.”

Commenting on this special service, Airtel MD and CEO Gopal Vittal said, “I am really proud of the tireless work of our engineers who have shown the incredible power of technology at Tech City Hyderabad. Testing of all our investments was successful as soon as we arrived in Hyderabad and at the same time its impact was far-reaching. With the successful launch of 5G network, Airtel has proved that Airtel is the only pioneer of high-quality technology in India.

Gopal Vittal added, “I believe that only India has the power to rule the world with the innovative power of 5G. And to make that dream a success, we need to work together to innovate applications, devices and networks. We are ready to help in all these ways.

Asked about the competition with Reliance Jio and Vi or Vodafone Idea for 5G services, Gopal Vittal said, “I can only talk about Airtel, which has built a 5G network. It has been successful in commercial testing. But now what if space technology like Starlink competes in this 5G market? Vitale’s answer is, ‘Space aims to work only where negligible networks are available.’ Last year, Reliance CEO Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance Jio’s 5G network would be launched in India in the second quarter of 2021.
